Two women were killed and three others injured, one critically, when a motor-car was struck by a train at a level-crossing near Newport, Victoria. Six deaths from motor-car smashes In the different States, and a drowning, complete the week-end toll.

Eight people were injured when a double tram crashed into a stationary tram at Balmain, many others suffering shock. Many women fainted and both trams were damaged.
