COMIC END TO RACE

GIRL MOUNTS 'HORSE WHEN JOCKEY FALLS PROBLEM FOR STEWARDS LONDON, Saturday. Two horses competed in the White Lodge Steeplechase at Haydock Park today, Sardonyx and The Breezer. The former fell at the second fence, but was retnounted by his rider and started in pursuit of The Breezer, which was still leading when he fell at the last fence. Miss Jean Sanday, daughter of the trainer of The Breezer, then rushed on to the course, mounted the horse and tried to catch Sardonyx amid wild cheers from the spectators. However she failed. The stewards are uncertain as to whether The Breezer is entitled to second place in the circumstances. They have referred the matter to the National Hunt Committee.
