TRAIN HITS BUS AT CROSSING Fatal Skid on Ice DEATH ENDS STUDENTS’ SONG United F'.A. — By Telegraph—Copyright * VANCOUVER, Saturday. Nine girls were killed in a shocking level-crossing tragedy which occurred in Ohio.
Twenty girl students, comprising a basketball team, were singing in a bus when a Pennsylvania train ran into them at a crossing outside the village of Strove. Nine of the students were killed and all the others were injured.
Eye-witnesses said the driver of the bus saw the train, and slowed down, but his vehicle skidded on the icy pavement. Then the engine of the bus stalled when it was right across the track.
