NEW REGENT
“WHY BRING THAT UP?” Moran and Mack, the popular gramophone artists, who are well known as the “Two Black Crows,” appear in the leading roles in “Why Bring That Up?” at the Regent, the bright dialogue between the two adding a particularly amusing note to the picture. The two comedians are represented as vaudeville artists preparing 10 launch a theatrical entertainment on the New York stage. A quarrel occurs between them over a pretty adventuress whom Moran engages as a variety dancer. The girl, realising that Mack is attempting to come between her and her lover, arranges for him to be injured in a rough-and-tumble. It is this, however that leads to her downfall, for Moran’s concern for his friend causes him to forget his infatuation, and the “two black crows’* are reunited. Other members of the strong cast are Evelyn Brent and Harry Green, both of whom give admirable portrayals. A good pogramme of supporting features is shown, including songs by Jack Lumsdaine. “The Unholy Night,” Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer’s all-talking picture coming to the Regent next week, is based on remarkably strange but true facts in the sensational book by Ben Hecht, “The Doomed Regiment.” It centres around the gradual elimination by murder of the surviving officers of a famous British regiment, and features a cast of 18 famous stage and screen stars.
