BACK TO RUSSIA
MARCH OF 10,000 BEGGARS TRAGIC ENDING TO TREK From Its Moscow correspondent the "VoßSiche Zeitung” learned from Moscow that the Soviet Government has decided to transport back into the interior the 10,000 German-Russian peasants who have been waiting near Moscow to emigrate to Canada. The blame for this is laid at the doors of the German authorities, who, it is reported, have not been willing to harbour all these emigrants until they can be received in Canada. The Soviet Government (according to the correspondent) asserts that it can wait no longer for Berlin’s decision, as it has become impossible on sanitary grounds to keep thou-1 sands of persons cooped up in inade- j quate quarters so near the capital. | Therefore the Soviet authorities are preparing to transport these refugees \ back to the districts where they have j lived hitherto. As, however, the farmers left their j homes because they were robbed of j all means of subsistence, and as they I are now practically penniless, they [ must return to their former homes as j beggars.
