DAINTY BEDSPREADS FOR DAINTY ROOMS

MADE FROM ODDMENTS Bedspreads which add immensely to the charm of a bedroom may be made at home quite easily and inexpensively. Here are a few ideas which have been, worked out and found satisfactory. A bedspread made from odd pieces of white linen bought at sales. A big square forms the centre and the remainder is made up of smaller squares, each one embroidered in washing wools. The squares are joined with veining in coarse linen thread, and the spread is lined with pale pink mercerised lawn. Another effective bedspread is made from coloured linen, bought for a shilling a yard. As this was only 30in. yvide. two widths were necessary for a single bed. The strips were joined with veining stitch in white linen thread, but a narrow crochet insertion looks very well and rather more elaborate. A Cheap Spread Quite a cheap yet pretty spread may be made from wide easement cloth appliqued with flowers from a piece of cretonne or chintz, using coloured linen thread for the work. [ Bedspreads may be made also from : Paisley shawls, suitably mounted and i lined, or even from an old pair of I curtains, joined together with strips l of cqarse lace or embroidery.
