THAMES IN MARCH

ATTRACTIVE SCHEDULE The march of progress so apparent with country trotting organisations during later years has been very marked in the case of the Thames Club, which will hold its popular fixture on March 29. This club lias made wonderful advancement during the last few years, and its generous policy with owners and trainers has earned the club a measure of popularity with the lightharness fraternity, that has placed it on a high pedastel of public opinion. The sterling arrangements of the Thames management are recognised to be the best in New Zealand. 'Every facility and inducement is offered and the accommodation is free, another strong feature when racing expenses generally are at such a high rate. The club’s carrier meets all boats and trains to render assistance with the gear, this service also being rendered gratis. The hospitality of the Thames sportsmen is too well known to require further comment, while the manner in which Secretary E. O. Brownlee attends to the various arrangements in connection with the meeting has earned him a high place in the estimation of the trotting fraternity. As the Waikato Trotting Club’s next fixture is held the Saturday following the Thames function, the latter club will grant owners and trainers the free use of its stabling facilities during the time they wish to remain at Thames between the two meetings.
