GREATEST WINNER
r pHE greatest winner over the A Auckland Trotting Club’s recent carnival is the Government, which lifted by way of taxation the large sum of £12.562 14s 2d. which is almost as much as paid out in stakes during the three days. This huge amount was made up of totalisator duty £4,163 17* 6d. dividend duty £7,495 11s. stakes tax £632 10s, and amusement tax £270 15s Bd.
