STRANGE!
WITH regard to the recent reports of dog- poisoning in England, it is a curious fact that during September in St. Andrews there was a recrudesence of the poisoning scare that so upset local dogowners a few years ago (says an English writer). Oddly enough none of the eight deaths which are said to have occurred have been reported to the police, nor does it seem to have been thought advisable to hold a postmortem on any of the victims. The danger area was said to be in the thick patch of whin near the sixth and twelfth holes on the Old Course. The practice of hunting for lost balls with the aid of dogs is well known and, while all the dogs that died are said to have been the property of caddies, it .s hinted that others besides dog-owners have an interest • n this pursuit.
