ISLAND MAIL STOLEN
THIEF ESCAPES WITH REGISTERED BAG SYDNEY, Wednesday. When the Burns-Philp Island steamer Marsina, 1,932 tons, from Rabaul, arrived at Sydney yesterday, it was discovered that her registered mailbag was missing from inside another bag, and the whole registered mail from the mandated territory had been stolen. The value of the mail was considerable. Apparently the theft was committed during the voyage to Sydney, and the thief left the vessel with his booty before the mails were unloaded.
