His Excellency the GovernorGeneral. Sir Charles Fergusson, was entertained at dinner at the Northern Club last evening. Mr. C. W. Lockyer, of Petone, Wellington, who has been spending the past week in Auckland, returned home by the Limited last evening. Mr. W. W. Ryan, of Sydney, has been appointed a director of the Atlantic Union Oil Company, Ltd.. Ho has been associated with the company since its inception, first as city sales manager, and more recently as general sales manager. Mr. Lionel Speakman, manager of the London office of l>algety and Com'pany, Ltd., has been appointed general manager of tiie company, as from January 1, 1930. Mr. E. V. Reid will continue to occupy the position of managing director. Mr. Norman J. Carson Ras been appoir ted by the board of directors of the Australian Mercantile, Land and Finance Company, Limited, manager at Melbourne, following on the retireinert on December 31 of Mr. Robert J. Boyne. C.M.0., who will join the company’s local board of advice. Lord Cr&igavon, Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, who is spending a holiday in New Zealand, is at present in Wellington. He will pay- a visit to the Prime Minister tomorrow, and will also visit the mausoleum of the late Kt. lion. W. F. Massey.
