DEATH IN STREET
DUE TO HEART FAILURE VISITOR FROM KAIKOHE In accordance -with the opinion of Dr. R. E. Sevan Brown, a verdict of death following heart failure was returned by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner, yesterday when an inquest was held on the death of Arthur Townley. Mr. Townley collapsed in Queen Street on December 31 at 9.55 a.m. as he stood filling his pipe. He was a man of independent means, aged 62, and lived at Kaikohe. It is understood that he was a married man with a wife and step-daughter living at Los Angeles, U.S.A. Deceased, according to evidence, was not a strong man and had undergone a fairly serious operation about three years ago. Dr. Bevan Brown, who examined the body, said that the only external mark of violence was a slight abrasion on the left temple. “Death may well have been due to heart failure,” added witness.
