SALTERSGATE TO DOCK.—The steamer Saltersgate is expected to complete unloading raw sugar from Cuba at Chelsea about January 8. Afterward the vessel will be docked to have her hull cleaned ancl painted. RANGITANE CLEARED MADEIRA.— The focal office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled advice that the new motor-liner Rangitane arrived at Madeira on December 24 and sailed the same day in continuation of her voyage from London and Southampton to Wellington and Auckland. She is scheduled to reach Wellington on January 22, and Auckland a week later. ABBEKERK’S CARGO. —Russell and Somers announce that a deposit of 6 per cent, general average has been declared on the cargo carried by the steamer Abbekerk, which was on fire during her recent passage from Port Said to Fremantle. Consignees are requested to produce shipping invoice, bill of lading and insurance policy and also sign average bond. Letters of authority will be required from agents of consignees to sign bond.

RANGITI KI’S FAST RUN. —On the homeward passage of her second voyage, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor-liner Rangitiki made a fast run of IS days from Wellington to Balboa. She left Wellington at 5 p.m. on December 7 and arrived at the Panama Canal on the afternoon of Christmas Day’. The Rangitiki left Colon last Thursday’ afternoon for Southampton and London, and is expected to arrive at the Channel port on or about January S. NORTHERN COMPANY'S VESSELS. —The Northern Company advises that there will not be a uteaxner to Kawau Island and Algie’s today. The Rangitoto will be dispatched for Kawau Island tomorrow and on Thursday. The Omana is to be dispatched for Matakana, Kawau and Algie’s at noon on Friday. The Apanui is to leave Auckland for Thames at 3 o’clock on Friday afternoon Tomorrow being a holiday, New Year's Day, the only arrivals and departures will be excursion vessels which will run to Waiheke, Motuihi, Manly and Kawau, both tomorrow and on Thursday. Other movements on Thursday will be the arrival of the Clansman from Whangarei in the morning and the departure of the Claymore for Whangarei at 9 p.m. *and the Taniwha for Paeroa at midnight. The Ngapuhi is to leave Onehunga for New Plymouth at 6.30 p.m. on Thursdav. On Friday the company’s ordinary ‘timetable will be resumed.
