RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS
NORTH ISLAND COMPETITION Press Association WANGANUI, Sunday. The North Island championship rifle shooting meeting concluded on Putiki range at Wanganui yesterday. A high north-east wind made shooting difficult but some exceptionally good scores were returned. Captain A. Neilson (Napier) retained the championship belt, with 327 points. Rifleman T. Orr (Greytown) was second with and Rifleman .T. Patterson (Wanganui) third with 317. In the Manawatu Match, J. G. Turnbull (New Plymouth) and X. G. Green (Okawa) were c-qual first, with 49 points. (D. Calder (Akarana) was third. The Hawke’s Bay (Match resulted in a win for !•’. C. Hogs (Wanganui), T. Orr (Greytown) beingsecond, and 1). F. T. Goodall (Suburbs) third.
Tlie optional aggregate match ended in a victory for Captain A. Neilson. .1. Patterson (Wanganui) was second and T. Orr (Greytown) third. The North Island Teams Match resulted in a victory for the Wanganui team. Petone was second and Opaki third T. Orr (Greytown) won the Marybank aggregate. The tyro championship was won by A. S. Berryman, Dannevirke.
