CAPSIZE IN HARBOUR
SAILING BOAT OVERTURNS TWO OCCUPANTS RESCUED Thrown into the harbour when their yacht capsized between Howick and Beachlands about 4.30 p.m. yesterday, two voung men were rescued after about 20 minutes in the water. The young men, who were camping aL Bucklands Beach, had left in the niorning for Beachlands and were returning, when their boat, the 16ft flatbottomed sailing boat Spot, capsized. The occupants managed to scramble °ut of the water on to the upturned vessel. in the meantime the accident had been seen by several people on Howick Beach and several boats went out to rescue them and bring them ashore. After they had been supplied with not drinks by Mrs. T. Mclnness, of the Beach Cottage, and had their clothing dried, the pair returned to Bucklands. ( _ Assistance was given by Mr. H. lvay 5S> }\fr. Gavin Wallace, Mr. A. Wyatt, Mr. Bert Kent and Dr. Stevenson. Some difficulty was experienced *n rescuing the boat, as when it had overturned the anchor had fallen out and was holding the boat firmly. Sev©raj boats assisted before the capsized cratt was brought to the beach.
