NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS
LATE NIGHT TOMORROW MANY SPORTS ATTRACTIONS Two days’ holiday will foe observed by the Auckland retail shops on January 1 and 2, besides the weekly halfholiday on Saturday. In consequence, the late shopping night will be on New Year’s Eve, tomorrow, instead of Friday. After tomorrow evening the shops will not reopen until Friday morning. The banks will observe January 1 and 2 as holidays, resuming business on Friday. Qn New Year’s Eve trams will be excluded from Queen Street : rom 7.30 until 9 p.m., and motor and horse drawn vehicles will not be allowed in the main thoroughfare between 7 p.m
and 10 p.m. Holiday-makers will have a big round of sports fixtures to entertain them. Today, Wednesday, and Thurs ' day, the races at Ellerslie will be continued, and tomorrow the trotting meeting will conclude at Alexandra Park. The principal attractions this evening will be broadsiding at Blandford Park stadium, and this will be followed by another meeting on Wednesday. On Wednesday. Thursday, and Friday, there will d« motor-cycle racing at Western Spring* stadium. Enthusiasts will also finu plenty of interest in the regattas a Wbangarei and Cowes Bay, YV aiheke. on Wednesday.
