Ladies and Gentlemen, — I beg to intimate that I am a Candidate for a seat on the Auckland Transport Board, rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. F. S. Morton. I have had considerable experience in Municipal matters, which, I feel sure, will be helpful in the interests of the Transport business. I realise there is a lot to be done to bring the Transport system of Auckland and suburbs up-to-date and it will be my policy to assist in giving the people a cheap and faster service, thereby encouraging them to travel by tram, which, I feel sure, would result in the system paying its way and assisting to solve the unemployment trouble to a great extent by the employment of additional labour in the various departments. BUS SERVICES AS FEEDERS TO OUTLYING DISTRICTS. This matter will receive my careful consideration and where tramway buses cannot be made to pay, then private services will be given the right to operate />utside *the transport system. It will be my policy to work for progress with economy and to oppose the levying of a rate to make good losses on the undertaking, which I consider would not be good business.
