ARTISTIC EFFECTS
• FOR “THE LOVE PARADE” Red plush drapes with gold braid, golden telephones of the French type, “Goblin” tapestries, Louis XIV. furniture and ornate knockers for castle doors were all utilised by the property department during the filming of Paramount’s “The Love Parade,” the screen’s first original operetta, starring Maurice Chevalier.
The lavish furnishings were used to decorate the beautiful castle of the queen of the mythical kingdom of Sylvania, which forms the locale of the “Love Parade.” The story deals with modern love and intrigue around the throne of the queen, played by Jeanette MacDonald. “The Love Parade” features many entrancing numbers in song and dance by Chevalier, are featured in the supporting cast. Miss MacDonald and other principals. “The Love Parade” was recently completed at the Hollywood studios under the direction of Ernst Lubitsch, and will arrive shortly for New Zealand release. In “Station S-E-X,” Clara Bow s next all-talking Paramount Picture, the star will portray a lady radio announcer. “Station S-E-X” is now in preparation at the Hollywood studios, and will go into production this month.
