CREW DASHED TO DEATH

NORWEGIAN STEAMER WRECKED LOST OFF SPANISH COAST Reed. Noon. MADRID, Thursday. The Norwegian steamer Asland was lost off Bayona. Rescue attempts were unsuccessful, and the crew of 25 were all dashed to death on the rocks. Rockets from the cod-laden steamer, from Ireland, apprised the gendarmes at Bayona that the vessel was drifting uncontrolled toward the shore. Three boats put out; but rocks prevented them from approaching the ship. Cries from the seamen in the darkness indicated that the vessel had struck. Subsequently corpses, which were much battered on the rocks, were washed ashore.
