PLANE LANDS ON BEACH

PILOT BEWILDERED BY MIST INCIDENT AT TAKAPUNA Enshrouded in a heavy, low-lying bank of mist, early this morning, one of the recently-trained flying pupils adopted the wise precaution of landing hi* Moth on Takapuna Beach. The plane was observed circling over the beach for about 10 minutes before making an exceptionally good landing about 7.15 a.m. On communicating by telephone with the Mangere airdrome, to ascertain the state of the weather, he was instructed by the authorities to leave the plane there, and later the assistant instructor. Pilot lan Keith, arrived by motor-car and flew the machine back <o Mangere.
