A TIGHT FINISH IN THE RICH AUCKLAND CUP.-Concentrate (in the top picture) beats Star Stranger (next rails) by a head, with Count Cavour (on the outside, nearest camera), half a length away third just ahead of shrewd (in centre) and prodice (directly behind Count Cavour). Corinex and Paquito (Stripes) are shown behind Shrewd, and Spearmiss and Panther (Chequers) are at tge back of predice.Historic and merry Mint were on the inside of panther, But In the Shade did not get into the picture. The lower picture shows the field two furlongs from home in the A.R.C. Railway handicap. Great Star is leading Silvermine, Toxeuma (Next rails) ,Awarere,Cimanue,Hunting Cry (the winner,almost obscured on rails). Rafresher (bandaged leg), Leitrim, Lady Quex (hooped) and Aspiring. Hunting Cry finally won from Great won from Great Star, Silvermine and Toxeuma.
