OLD VETERAN DIES MR. E. 0. WASLEY Another veteran of the Maori Mar has died. He is Mr. Edward Oliver Was ley, of Oratia, who has lived in ; the Auckland Province for 70 years. Deceased, who was in his S2nd year, was born in England, coming to \ >ctoria in 1557, with his people, who took up gold-mining. Later they crossed to New Zealand. He saw much service in the Slapri War. joining the First Waikato Regiment at the age of IS. Later, "ben fighting under Major Von TempskJ. of the Forest Rangers, against Te Koou. he was severely wounded. Afterwaid he was farming in V aitakere an 1 Nihotupu Watershed, known _ as W asley later married and settled at Oia tia. He leaves a widow.
