Suits and Ensembles Replace Summer Wear at the Trots
Today’s cool wind and unsettled skies did not prevent ardent racegoers from attending the opening day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s summer meeting at Alexandra Park, Epsom. but it meant a return to warmer and more useful-looking ensembles and suits, in place of the summery attire one is usually privileged to wear at this season of the year. However, some very smart styles were noticed on the lawns, and the new light-weight summer tweeds can bo very chic and effective, especially in the shades that range from oatmeal to a delicate rose beige. These, worn with a gaudy scarf, and the same tonings, introduced into one of the new, lace-brimmed hats, are the next best thing to summer froeking. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Miss F. Farquhar, amethyst and beech brown chenille embossed georgette, furs, and a beige hat. Miss Sellgrin, Sydney, figured crepe de chine frock, black coat and beige hat. Mrs. V. Keys, beech brown light-weight tweed suit, furs and hat to tone. Miss Keys, forest green fur-trimmed coat, and felt hat to tone. Mrs. Margetts, smart navy coat and hat.
