VISITING THE SICK

CHRISTMAS AT HOSPITAL DECORATED WARDS Flowers, greenery, balloons and streamers gave a festive appearance to the Auckland Hospital yesterday, when a party of members of the board visited the institution and personally conveyed the season’s greetings to each patient. The party comprised Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the board, Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., Mr. M. J. Savage, M.P., Mr. W. K. Howitt, Mr. G. T. Parvin and Dr. C. E. Maguire, medical superintendent. They visited every ward and not one patient was missed. In the children’s ward presents littered every bed, and judging from the happy commotion, the children were getting their full share of Christmas fun, although confined to a hospital. During the morning a short Christmas service was conducted in the men’s surgical ward by Archbishop Averill. On Christmas Eve the chairman and members -of the Hospital Board, accompanied by Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., visited the Auckland Infirmary and the Alexandra Convalescent Home. In each case a few words of cheer were spoken to every patient.
