PRICE OF NEWSPRINT
ANNOUNCEMENT IN U.S. United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, Sunday. The International Paper Company announces through the American Newspaper Publishers’ Association that the present price (55 dollars 20 cents a ton) for newsprint will remain unchanged for the first half of 1930. There will be no increase after that date without 30 days’ notice being given to newspaper publishers. The Publishers’ Association lias received word from the Newsprint Institute of Canada that the price of 60 dollars a ton recently decided upon by some of the larger Canadian newsprint manufacturers will remain unless the market conditions change in the near future.
NATIONAL MUTUAL YEAR
The financial operations of the National Mutual Life Association of Australasia, Ltd., for the year ended September 30, are announced by the New Zealand manager. The new business was £9,868,350 and the total income. £4,941,130. The addition to the assurance fund was £2,400,265 and the fund amount at the close of the year was £31,547,595. The amount payable to policy holders or their representatives during the year was £2.093,783. After deduction of rates and taxes, the rate of interest earned on the mean funds was £5 6s. The amount of the total assurances in force is £81.262,284. Members may expect their bonus certificates on March 1, 1930.
