Miss V. English is spending the holidays at Kawhia. Miss McCauley, of Dunedin, is a visitor at the; Hamilton Hotel. Miss E. Murray has returned to Hamilton for the summer vacation. Miss M. Housiaux. of Napier, is visiting Mrs. L>. Scannell in Hamilton. * * * Miss Betty Nutting is spending the Christmas vacation at Kawau Island. Mrs. R. McKenzie and family are spending the holidays at Cheltenham Beach. Miss Elsie Simmons, who has been visiting Gisborne, has returned to Hamilton. * * * Mrs. Willoughby has returned to her home in Hamilton, alter a week’s visit to Auckland. Miss De Renzy, of Hamilton, returned to her home in Auckland during the week-end. Mrs. Powdrell, of Matatoki. is visiting her daughter in Hamilton for the Christmas holidays.

Miss Nan Alonekton has returned to her home in Hamilton, where she will spend the Christmas holidays. Mrs. Wyvern Wilson left today for Devonport and will stay at the Esplanade Hotel for the holidays. * * #

Miss Ailsa Wilson, of Hamilton, is the guest of Miss M. Conlan. They leave shortly lor the Bay of Islands.

Miss Alison Scott, who has resigned her position at the Hamilton High School, sailed by fhe Marama for England.

Mrs. H. Greenslade left fqr Tauranga this morning, where she will'spend the Christmas and New' Year holidays.

Mrs. Lance Tompkins and her family intend leaving for New Plymouth, where they will spend the Christmas and New Year holidays. * * * Mrs. W. Williams, of Te Aroha, and her niece, Miss Eva Smith, left for Timaru. where they intend to spend the Christmas holidays.

HOBSONVILLE SCHOOL TREAT

On I riday last the Hobsonvilie ! School broke up for the holidays after ! a most successful year. The school j committee. Oddfellows’ lodges and the 1 V omen’s Institute combined to give the children a treat in the form of a Christmas tree, followed by an old-time dance. This was held in the hall, which was beautifully decorated wiLh greenery, coloured lights and Air Force flags kindly loaned by Major L. M. Isitt. the chairman of the school committee. Ureat excitement heralded the arrival of Santa Claus, who was received with enthusiastic cheers. All children received a prize. During the proceedings the senior girls of the school danced round the maypole.

FAREWELL GATHERING

PRESENTATION TO TEACHER A gaily decorated class room at New Lynn School was the setting for a very pleasing function, when the staff of the school entertained Miss F. Svms at a farewell gathering in honour of her approaching marriage. After morning tea had been served Mr. W. W. Edgerley, on behalf of the staff, presented Miss Syms with a set of crystal goblets and jug, and expressed the unanimous regret felt by her fellow-teachers at her departure, at the same time extending to her their most cordial wishes for her future. Miss Syms, in responding, thanked the staff for its good wishes and spoke feelingly of the pleasure experienced in her association with all connected with the school.

MORRINSVILLE WEDDING

MOSS—WOOD

A pretty wedding was celebrated in the Morrinsville Methodist Church on Wednesday, when Enid Mary Wood, second daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. C. Wood, was married to Mr. Wilfred Gordon Moss, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Moss, of Eketahuna. The officiating minister was the Rev. E. E. Sage. The church had been prettily decorated by friends of the bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother. Air. L. Wood, of Alatangi. She was wearing a charming frock of ivory silk georgette and silver lace, over which fell a veil of ivory embroidered tulle, which was caught with clusters jof orange blossom. A shower bouquet | of white carnations, roses and maiden - j hair fern was carried. In attendance | was Aliss R. Johnstone, who wore a j frock of lemon georgette with hat to j match and carried a bouquet of pink j carnations. Mr. Ivan Parsons, of Hamilton, was best man. The wedding march was played by Aliss V. Brayshaw. Subsequent to the ceremony about GO guests were received at the Lounge Tearooms, by Airs. Wood, who wore a fawn crepe de chine dress with hat to match. Airs. Aloss, mother of the bridegroom, was wearing a black ensemble suit. Later the bride and bridegroom left on a motor trip to Wellington, the bride travelling in a frock of crepe majestic and bangkok hat to tone.
