RIFLE SHOOTING

AUCKLAND CITY CLUB The Auckland City and Defence Rifle Club commenced a new trpohy series at Penrose at 500 and 600 yards last Saturday, the shoot being: run in conjunction with a home and home match with other centres. J. A. Spry and I. Spry won a spoon each, and with adjusted handicaps, trophy points were won by R. McLeay, J. A. Spry and I. Spry, in the ratio of 3. 2 and 1. Scores of the rifle were:——J. A. AKARANA CLUB The Akarana Rifle Club completed its second trophy series of the season at the Penrose Rifle Range on Saturday over the ranges of 500 and 600 yards for trophies presented by Mr. F. R. Coombes and Mr. A. E. Hughes. Shooting conditions were fair. Silver spoons were won by F. J. Atkinson and A. M. Richardson. Trophy points for the competition were won by the following members: Section A: A. H. Dixon, 7; D. Calder, 7; E. J. Reston, 6; J. F. Atkinson, 2; A. E. Hughes, 1; C. Ashby, 1. Section B: K. Davis, S: A. M. Richardson, 5; A. Walker. 4; E. Starkey, 3; A. G. Smith, 3; T. Elliott, 1.
