TRAINS DELAYED
AUCKLAND-FRANKTON SERVICE POWER SUPPLY FAILS An interruption in the automatic signal system between Auckland and Frankton last evening was responsible for a disorganisation of train services. The chief trains affected were the three southbound expresses and the Limited express from Wellington, though a number of goods and other trains were also delayed. The Limited express from Wellington, comprising 13 carriages, arrived at Auckland about an hour and a-half late. The Limited express from Auckland reached Frankton 21 minutes late, the second express 44 minutes late, and the extra express, which left at 8.40, 53 minutes late. It was expected that the southbound expresses would pick up a good deal of time on the run.
The power interruption was stated to have been caused by a fused wire. The suspension of power occurred at 8 o’clock and the fault was not located until 11.50.
