Coming Fox Pictures—Splendid Attractions

A programme of talking films which for quality, variety and entertainment value will be the most outstanding yet seen in New Zealand, is promised from the huge well-equipped Fox studios during the next few months. Perhaps the greatest of these fine attractions will be “The Cock-Eyed World,” a rousing U.B. Marine Corps story which is really a sequel to the well-known silent film, “What Price Glory.” Victor McLaglen and Edmund Lowe have their old parts as Flagg and Quirk, although slightly reduced in rank. There has been no change, however, in their pursuit of women. The inevitable battles still continue between them, particularly over a vivacious little Russian girl.

played by Leida Karnelly, and, back in New York, a South American girl played by Lily Damita. There are many exciting scenes and any amount of laughs from the conversation and ideas of the marines.

A strong dramatic all-talking picture which will undoubtedly prove a great attraction is “Frozen Justice,” an epic of the snowlancfs of the North. Lenore Ulric, famous New York actress, is seen as a tantalising and tempetuous half-caste Alaskan belle, and the picture, directed by Allan Dwan includes some amazing scenes of the Alaskan snows.

With each new talking picture that makes its appearance the film industry proves it is advancing in giant strides. The latest achievement is the Fox Movietone musical comedy,

“Why Leave Home.” It is an entertaining singing and dancing production based on the stage success "Cradle Snatchers," and is presented by a big cast of the pick of Hollywood. It is complete with a number of real musical comedy melodies. Another new Fox picture stars Josephine Dunn, the blonde beauty who appeared opposite A 1 Jolson in “The Singing Fool.” Her charming acting ability will be seen in the alltalkie of the lives of vaudeville players entitled “Big Time.” An exciting breath-talking story about jewel thieves is another coming Fox attraction. This is “The Girl from Havana,” which is pure excitement from end to end, with Paul Page, Lola Lane and Kenneth Thompson in the chief roles.
