Ancient Hindoo Vase

A unique novelty that will be seen in the foyer of the Civic Theatre will be a specially imported old Indian temple vase. On the vase, in relief, is portrayed a large-sized figure of the Indian God, Ganesh. In one particular part of India the god is taken as an emblem of luck and wisdom, and no great undertaking is proceeded with without first invoking his aid. "When a new’ house is being built his image is placed on the ground and prayers offered, and he is honoured before a journey is begun or any business undertaken. Several myths have evolved round this four-armed elephant-headed deity. This wonderful antique blends harmoniously with the Indian atmosphere of the theatre.
