Catering For All
With an orchestra of 30 players in the well and a stage band of some seventeen or eighteen players, it can well be said that in regard to music the Civic Theatre intends to give its patrons the real thing. In addition there will be the grand organ, the very latest of its kind, presided over by Mr. Fred Scholl.
When the advent of the talkies brought about the almost total extinction of picture theatre orchestras there were some who ventured to suggest that the time would come "hen the theatre would again return to legitimate music. That the prophecy has been so quickly fulfilled is a matter of great gratification and encouragement, not ouly to the professional musicians that were affected but also to the general public which, undoubtedly, was beginning to miss and lament the absence of good music from the theatres.
In assisting to bring about the revival of picture orchestras the management of the Civic Theatre is playing a very important part. Not only in the personnel of its orchestra and stage band has a high standard been set, but also in the selection of the theatre’s music leaders. x '
