THE CIVIC THEATRE
Auckland, New Zealand, December 21st, 1929.
fjggpljl ITH supreme confidence in the jPyillili • future of Auckland, and with gratitude to those who have toiled with me in this great Endeavour, I present to my fellow citizens the consummation of an ideal — the creating of a place of entertainment symbolising the progressive spirit of our beautiful city. Imposing as the structure is, it reflects but to a minor degree the effort and energy that have gone with its erection. All that human ability, genius and mechanical assistance could contribute has been used without stint to create a theatre worthy of the Queen City of the Dominion. In dedicating the Civic to the thousands who love edifying amusement in the most appropriate of settings, I await the verdict of my patrons with confidence. Yours to make Auckland a bigger and brighter city. • A
