“FLIGHT”
CTVTC« SECOND PICTURE “Flight.’* a Columbia all-talking aviation special to hr released b Greater Australasian Films. will be second bis: film attraction at the Civic Theatre. It is a mighty drama of adventure in the sky featuring: the moat sens* tional air feats ever photographed. A capable cast including Jack Holt and Ralph Graves, one of the screen'> favourite teams, Lila Lee. Harold Goodwin. Jimmy T>c Cruze and Alan Roscoe handle their roles wit.i skill and artistry. Loops, tail-spins and Immelm; n turns provide thrills galore for aviation enthusiasts. Fundamentally an aerial production, a beautiful an i
poignant love story is told against, the background of breath - taking manoeuvres among the clouds.
"Lefty** Phelps, enacted by Ralph Graves, driven by shame to leave college because of unsuccessful football play, joins the marine aviation sei vice. He wins the sympathy and friendship of “Panama” Williams, the hard-boiled marine sergeant (JackHolt). Their friendship is disrupted temporarily when they both fall in love with the same girl. This situation leads to an intensely dramatic conclusion.
Battle scenes between the Nicaraguan insurgents and the American marines are tremendously realistic and thrilling. Colourful sequences are laid in the exotic atmosphere of Nicaraguan cabarets where Spanish singers and dancers hold forth.
Here is one of the rare achievements in motion pictures—a good story, excellent acting, fine direction and tense and awe-inspiring situations Frank R. Capra directed.
