CHOOSING THE GRAND PIANO
INSTRUMENT OF SUPERB TONE
There is no doubt but that, in a very short time, the musical festivaJ presented nightly at the Civic Theatre
will be one of the great attractions of Auckland, and put this city “on the map * as a musical centre.
Every possible endeavour is being made to this end, and the greatest
care was taken in selecting the orchestra and the grand piano. The best pianos only were considered, and on the advice of Mr. Ted Henkel, musical director, the Civic bought a Bechstein Grand piano as the princi-
pai piano, thereby following the lead oL many of Europe’s leading theatres. The instrument supplied by Messrs. Lewis Eady, Ltd., is a magnificent example of the products of this famous firm, and is undoubtedly the finest piano supplied to any theatre in New Zealand. Superb in tone, it is particularly sumptuous in appearance, its magnificent highly-polished ebony case giving a most imposing appearance.
The Chappell Bijou Grand piano, also supplied by Messrs. Lewis Eady, Ltd., is the first of its kind to be used for stage work in New Zealand, and its dainty appearance and sweet, ample tone make this model singularly suitable for use in concert halls and smaller auditoriums.
