Mayne Lynton, who has toured New Zealand on several occasions with J.C.W. shows, will begin a season at the Savoy Theatre, Sydney, on Boxing Night, with “The Play’s the Thing.” e e * A new play by Cosmo Hamilton, entitled “Gentlemen, the King,” is being presented in England. It was written originally for H. B. Irving, and deals with Charles 11. during his exile. The part of Charles is being taken by Percy Marmont, the film actor. , * * Eugene O'Neill's play, “Strange Interlude,” which takes five or six hours to act, is being produced by Duncan Macdougall at the Playbox Theatre in Sydney, with Mattie Doyle in the lead. Only the first six of the nine acts will be given. * * * The young Australian actor, Ellis Irving, will soon leave tor London He played leads opposite Renee Kelly in New Zealand, and recently appeared in Drinkwater’s comedy, “Bird in Hand,” with the Gregan McMahon Players at the Melbourne Palace.

A cable message received by J. C. Williamson, Ltd., stated that the King had attended the performance of “The Murder on the Second Floor” at the Lyric Thes-tre, London. This unusual comecly-drama is drawing packed houses, and next to “Mr. Cinders,” the musical comedy, Is said to be the biggest stage success In London. The author, Frank Vosper, is an actor. He plays the leading role, and has also produced the play. “The Murder on the Second Floor” will follow “Brewster's Millions” after the run of this comedy has finished at the Comedy Theatre, Melbourne. A feature of the performance will be the appearance of Ada Reeve In association with Leon Gordon.
