WELLINGTON SHORTWAVE TESTS EQUIPMENT FOR STEAMER Reed. 2.15 p.m. SYDNEY, Today. I Australian experimenters • report clear reception of the new sta--1 tion ZLW, Wellington, which lately has been conducting tests with Eng- , land on a wave-length of 19 metres. ; ZLW belongs to the New Zealand Post Office and will be used for communication with the Pacific Islands. The equipment was manufactured in Australia by Amalgamated Wireless, Ltd., which is also providing the latest appliances for the New Zealand Government’s new lighthouse steamer, including a C.W. transmitter to cover the band of 300 to 1,000 metres, also a special receiving set with a range of from 10 to 20,000 metres.
