DUNEDIN WOOL PRICES

1 Press Association DUNEDIN, Friday. The first wool sale in Dunedin for this season took place today, when 20,122 bales were offered. There was a full bench of buyers, but local speculators wre absent. The wool opened up in fair condition, but as a whole, it was not in as good order as last year, due doubtless to snowfalls in winter, and a dry spring, followed by very showery weather at shearing time. The market, as was expected, showed a serious drop in values compared with last year. Bidding today was fairly well spread. As usual, Bradford buyers took the bulk of the offering, but fair quantities were taken for the Continent, particularly pieces and bellies. A Russian buyer was operating, and his bidding was particularly useful in fine halfbreds.

On the whole, prices can be quoted as fully up to the basis of the sale in Timaru on Monday, with a tendency in sellers’ favour. « The range of prices was as follows, the prices for December, 1928, also being given: Dec., 1928. Dec. 1929.
