The men who were arrested yesterday in connection with alleged fraudulent bills —Morris Abraham Kutner, aged 37; Daniel Joseph Rogers. 65; Albert Monroe Cameron, 27; Harry* Roden. 39, all auctioneers; Albert Arthur Ellisdon, GO, merchant; and Hairy Levy, 67. a broker —were today charged with conspiring to defraud such persons as should be induced to give credit to Cheapleys. Ltd., or lo A. A. Ellisdon, by false representation. The police stated that goods worth about £65.000 were obtained from various firms. About JC15.000 worth had ben recovered, and about £3.000 was left in a bank. The goods were sold at half-price or less, and some were missing. The case was adjourned until February 10, bail being allowed. The police said that at least 100 witnesses would be called. It was stated that the firm with which the men were connected came into existence some months ago. It traded on the 90 days’ bill system, buying huge quantities of merchandise from warehouses, and selling at ridiculously low prices to retailers. The firm had now gone out of existence. The bills fell due at the beginning of December, and according to official statements, were not met.
