SEEING ITALY

INFORMATION FOR TOURISTS A bulletin published by the Italian State Tourist Department contains some interesting information for travellers who intend visiting that delightful country. The First International African Sample Fair will be held at Tripoli from February 20 to April 20, 1930. During the period of the fair there will be a number of entertainments, festivities, pageants. historical and phantastic shows, sporting meetings and competitions, excursions in the interior of Tripolitania, congresses. m In view of the great importance of this First African Fair, and of the growing interest in Italy as well as abroad for Tripolitania, all shipping companies have increased very considerably the number of liners and have improved the service and comfort on board. Tripolitania is now connected to Italy by means of very fast and modern liners. Starting from January 1, 1930, the Italian State Railways will grant special reductions for the “Sicilian Spring.”

These seasonal reductions were first started eight years ago. This year they offer tourists the advantage of coming into Italy as early as the month of January, allowing them to pass even some winter months in the warm climate of this land. Moreover with the special tickets at reduced rates there will be no restriction as to the number of stops from the frontier right down to Sicily. The “Sicilian Spring” Committee has agents all over Europe. They are entrusted with the sale of the permits which entitle holders to obtain a reduction of 50 per cent, on the whole stretch to Sicily and of 25 per cent, on the sea-passage from Naples to Palermo and back. These tickets are valid for 45 days if issued abroad and 30 days if purchased in Italy. No formalities are required for tourists coming from abroad and wishing to stop at intermediate stations.
