PAPAKURA PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S BRANCH - The Papakura branch of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union met on Wednesday afternoon in the Presbyterian Hall to officially welcome their new minister’s wife, Mrs. J. H. Bredin. Miss Margaret Cooper, vice-president, presided over a good attendance and welcomed the visitors and friends. Miss Cooper said she was pleased to welcome Mrs. Bredin into their midst and into the local branch of the P.W.M.U., and expressed pleasure at her acceptance of their invitation to become president. Miss Rhodes, newly-elected secretary of the Auckland P.A., expressed her pleasure at being present and invited Mrs. Bredin to attend their meetings which are held on the third Thursday in the month. * Mrs. Bredin. in reply, thanked the members for their kind welcome and the women who represented the local churches for being present. Songs were given by Mrs. W. McIlraith. Miss M. Dow, and piano solos by Mrs. Woods and Miss A. McLennon. Among those present were: Mrs. McNicol. Mrs. Dow, Miss Dow (Clevedon), Mrs. W. J. RIDDIFORD ENTERTAINS AT GRAND HOTEL Mrs. Vivian Kiddiford entertained a number of friends and relatives at a very enjoyable part at the Grand Hotel on Wednesday evening, after the wedding of her niece, Miss Nancye Colbeck, to Mr. Reginald Hunter Blair. Mrs. Riddiford wore a very smart, simply fashioned gown of phlox pink and silver brocade, with draped skirt. Tall crystal vases of pink sweet peas were arranged on the dinner table.
