The Governor-General, Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fcrgusson arrived in Timaru yesterday on a farewell visit. Tho weather was wet, but this did not Prevent thousands attending tho farewell gatherings.—P.A. Dr. Alfred Clark, formerly of Auckland. has been made a grant for two years b.v the Medical Research Oon%mittee of tho British Colonial Office, in recognition of the food research work which he has been engaged upon for the last two years in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Colonel P. < ’lenell Fenwick, C.M.G., of Christchurch, has been appointed by Lord Baden Powell Dominion Chief Commissioner of tho Boy Scouts, in succession to General .Andrew, according to cable advice received in Gisborne. —P.A. Lord Bledisloe an\j La<*y Bledisloe were given a farewell by the Cloucest"rshire Society at its annual dinner. The Earl of Wemygs said tho whole country would miss them. r . 'hey could ill be spared.
