NEW CARNIVAL DATES
SWIMMING PROGRAMMES The move of the Waitemata Swimming Club to hold the carnival postponed on Tuesday evening on Christmas Day received the approval of the Auckland Swimming Centre last evening. Mount Eden will now hold its carnival on January 16. The New Zealand Swimming Council is to be asked if action has been taken to secure New Zealand representation at the Empire Games to be held in Canada next year. The Auckland Centre suggests the institution of inquiries from the Canadian Commissioner of Trade for particulars of the arrangements in view for the event. The programme for the Auckland championships on January 9 will be: Men, 100 yards free style, 220 yards free style, 150 yards backstroke, 220 yards breaststroke, dive (low board). Women, 100 yards free style, 220 yards free style, 220 yards breaststroke. Intermediate boys: 100 yards free style, 220 yards free style, 100 yards breaststroke. Intermediate girls: 100 yards free style, 220 yards free style, 75 yards breaststroke. Junior boys: 100 yards free style, 220 yards free style. Junior girls: 50 yards free style, 100 yards free style, 50 yards breaststroke. Handicap events: 66 2-3 yards open, 66 2-3 yards boys’, 50 yards women’s, water polo. RACES AT MOUNT EDEN Three races will be held at the Bellevue Road Baths by the Mount Eden Swimming Club at 8 o’clock this evening. The events will be an open handicap, and handicaps for boys and girls over 50 yards.
