WOODFULL INJURED
HAND SMASHED BY FAST BALL OUT OF TEST TRIALS Reed. 11.45 a.m. MELBOURNE, Today. W. M. Woodfull, Australia’s opening batsman, who was struck on the
hand by a ball from the fast bowler Hurwood, has been found to have the third and fourth metacarpal bones of his left hand broken. He may be unable to play again before the test side is chosen for England. The injury occurred in a Sheffield Shield cricket match against Victoria, on a soft wicket. Queensland in the first inning made 114 (O’Connor 27, Levy 50). A'Beckett took four wickets for 25, Ironmonger four for 20, and Blackie two for 40. Victoria in the first innings has lost four wickets for 52 runs. Ponsford made 28, Woodfull (retired hurt) 2, Hendry 6. Ryder 7.
