NEW REGENT

“THE LAST OF MRS. CHEYNEY” The current double-feature programme at the New Kegent Theatre will be screened there for the last time this evening. This includes the all-talking comedy, "The Dummy,” starring Kuth Chatterton, and Greta Garbo’s fine dramatic success, "The Single Standard.” Fascinating Norma Shearer comes to the screen of the Regent tomorrow in "The Last of Mrs. Cheyney,” her latest Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer starring production. In the title-role of Frederick Lonsdale's well-known stage play. Miss Shearer establishes her hold on stellar talking screen honours. The story is built around the adventures of a beautiful London society “Raffles” and a member of the nobility who loves her; even when she robs his home. Lord Dilling, after falling in love with Mrs. Cheyney, discovers that she is a crook. He threatens to expose her, but she anticipates him, society being amazed. However, Mrs. Cheyney holds certain letters, affecting all present at a house party, and she compromises by accepting a cheque, later tearing this up. Dilling then realises that she loves him, and asks her to allow the incident to mark “The Last of Mrs. Cheyney,” and the beginning of Lady Dilling, and she agrees. Other attractions on this holiday programme will be the appearance of Jack Lumsdaine, whispering baritone, and the Regent Syneopators.
