DOWER of anticipation is a great asset and every player should endeavour to develop it. Brookes owed a great deal of his success to the wonderful power he possessed in being able to anticipate the nature and direction of his opponent’s return. Power of anticipation can only be acquired by experience and careful study as"to the most natural shot your opponent is likely to make off your return. Few players ever give any thought to this most important feature of the game. You will have a far better chance of beating an opponent with better strokes if your power of anticipation is superior to his.
