ASSIGNEE'S ACTION IN BANKRUPTCY The Crown Solicitor is Investigating the position ot H. E. Langridge, a bankrupt salesman, ot Ellerslie, with a view to the issuing of a certificate for prosecution. The official assignee, Mr. A. W. Watters, reported this when a further meeting of Langridge’s creditors was held this afternoon. Mr. Watters explained that his action in sending the case to the Crown Solicitor had been made after he had carried out investigations of Langridge’s banking account, according to an agreement reached at a previous meeting. The bankrupt had admitted to the assignee that he had attended race meetings, and had betted to an extent. Langridge protested against what he described as “persecution.” He said publicity would spoil his chances of securing a position, and he would be prevented from doing his best for his wife and children and the creditors. The solicitor appearing for Mrs. Langridge commented that he was not satisfied that the bankrupt had done his best. A further adjournment was made pending the Crown Solicitor’s reports
