LOANS APPROVED
HOWICK IMPROVEMENTS LARGE MAJORITY IN FAVOUR Each of three loan proposals which were submitted at a poll of ratepayers of the Ilowick town district yesterday was carried by a large majority. The result of the poll expi'esses the public feeling toward the policy of the chairman of the board, Mr. J. Crawford, and members of the board. The proposals submitted to the ratepayers provided for the borrowing of £15,236, as follows: for water reticulation; (2) £4,271 for the concrete paving of the HowickPanmure main road; (3) £1,625 for improvements to Pieton Street, Tlotvick. Each proposal was a separate issue in the voting, and although only a bare majority Avas needed the proposals were carried by* a large majority, as shown by the details, which are as follow: Loan of £9,340 for water reticulation. For, 215; against. 53. Majority for, 162. Informal, 3. Loan of £4,271, for concrete paving. —For, 254; against, 12. Majority for, 242. Informal, 3. Loan of £1,625 for improvements to Pieton Street.—For, 200; against, 65. Majority for, 135. Informal, 5.
