CHARGED WITH THEFT OF COW
DROVER COMMITTED FOR TRIAL From Our Own Correspondent NEW PLYMOUTH, Today A drover, E. Smith, of Stratford, appeared in the Stratford Police Court yesterday, charged w'ith stealing a Jersey cow owned by Albert Thomas Bourke, of Lowgarth. He was also charged with the attempted theft of a Jersey cow. He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was committed to the Supreme Court at New Plymouth for trial, reserving his defence. It was alleged that, accused had taken the cow when it was found straying on the road, and had not returned it when its owner advertised. The cow, according to a constable'* evidence, was found on his farm.
