TRIBUTE BY ALLIANCE
LATE BISHOP CLEARY The wide respect which the late Bishop Cleary had won from all sec tions of the community through hie life of consistent service ana selfsacrifice was referred to by the Rev. W. J. Comrie, president of the New Zealand Alliance, at a recent meeting. Sectarian differences could be put aside and all could unite in respecting a truly faithful servant of God, said Mr. Comrie, in proposing the following resolution, which was carried, all standing: “The Auckland Council of the New Zealand Alliance expresses its sympathy -with the Roman Catholic Church, and with the relatives of the late Bishop Cleary. A man of wide learning, true catholicity cf spirit, generous sympathies, and a clear and fearless fighter for what he believed to be right, he exercised a powerful influence for good and endeared himself to very many both within and beyond his own communion.”
