vauxhall school closes FOR HOLIDAYS TODAY’S CEREMONY Vauxhall School celebrated the close „f the scholastic year this afternoon *ten the annual prize-giving ceremony took place Mr. Sampson, who acted as chaiyb&b, introduced the main speaker of *8 day. The headmaster reported that the school had won the Tainui Cup, the Herbert Smith Cup and the Rukuwai Shield for swimming during the year sad in basketball events had secured the John Court Shield which carried che championship of Auckland with it. He also explained briefly the objects of the hobby show -which was on view It was to discover the different aptitudes of children and gain a knowledge of the occupations for which they were best fitted. Displays in the hobby show ranged from a 16ft sailing canoe. model yachts, working models of Meccano, dinner wagons and cabinets 'to fancy work, cookery exhibits, and collections of coins, shells and stamps. Along with this there was a display of work done by the children during the year. Models in clay, papa rock and carved Maori beads were among the exhibits.
